Working With Algarve Temperatures
The Algarve’s beautiful weather is one of its biggest draws, but when it comes to balloons, temperature matters. High heat, direct sunlight, and outdoor settings all affect how balloons behave, especially during the hotter summer months.
Nortada Winds
Here in the Algarve we sometimes have a strong, predominantly northerly (or north-northwesterly) wind that blows along the coast during the summer (May to September) and is known as the Nortada. This is the interaction between hot inland temperatures and cooler temperatures from the Atlantic Ocean.
Because we work locally in the Algarve, we design our balloon décor with the climate in mind. We carefully choose materials, placement, and inflation methods to help displays last as well as possible in warm and sometimes windy conditions.
Air-Filled, Helium & Pool Balloons
We offer a range of balloon options to suit different setups and environments:
Air Filled Balloons
These are the most heat-resistant option and are ideal for arches, garlands, backdrops, and outdoor installations. They hold their shape well and are perfect for events that need longer-lasting décor.
Helium Balloons
Helium balloons are great for floating effects and visual impact. However, due to the Algarve heat, latex helium balloons must be ordered on the day they are required. We cannot guarantee they won’t deflate if prepared earlier, as heat and humidity significantly reduce float time.
Foil helium balloons, on the other hand, are much more durable. These can be ordered the day before if needed, as they retain helium far better than latex balloons.
Large Pool Balloons
A favourite for summer parties and poolside events! Our oversized pool balloons create a fun, luxurious look and are perfect for outdoor celebrations, photos, and relaxed Algarve vibes.
